~ β€ŒNOURISHING COMMUNITIES TOGETHER ~

Local Organizations Receive $30,000 in Round Up Community Food Grants This Spring

Through the Round Up Program, Weaver Street Market awards monthly grants to local non-profit organizations for their established food security programs. This spring four organizations in Orange and Wake Counties will receive Round Up Grants totaling $30,000.

PORCH Hillsborough’s Fresh Program ensures families at risk for food insecurity have access to essential nutrition. Families in Hillsborough and northern Orange County receive monthly distributions of local meat and poultry, eggs, and fresh produce.

Marion Cheek Jackson Center's food pantry, Heavenly Groceries, promotes food access by providing quality produce and groceries to under-served communities around Chapel Hill. The pantry offers personal and cultural food choices, which preserves dignity and fosters community.

Rogers-Eubanks Neighborhood Association (RENA): The RENA Food Pantry provides support for those facing food insecurity in the Rodger’s Road community. They distribute food every third Saturday of the month to families in Chapel Hill.

UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health
provides food for individuals with Severe Mental Illness and their families in Orange and Wake County, improving their wellness and aiding recovery by offering nutritious perishable and non-perishable goods.

β€Œ100% of the funds awarded are used to purchase food for the organization’s food relief efforts. A committee of worker owners and consumer owners selected the recipients based on the organization’s need for additional sourcing or anticipated gaps in funding for nutritious food and their ability to readily source and distribute the food to those in need.

Join Erica with Movewell at our Raleigh store this Thursday, April 9th, 6:15 - 7pm for YOGA FLOW + CHILL integrates breathwork, flowing waves of movement, and a restorative cool down for a full body flow and wind-down.

Classes take place upstairs in the Weaver Street Market Mezzanine event space.
Street parking is free after 6pm - bring your own mat and a water bottle. Sliding scale pricing. 50% of the proceeds from each class will be donated to local organizations providing nutrition assistance to those in need. Learn more here.
