Due to the phase-out of the penny by the U.S. Mint,

Weaver Street Market will soon implement rounding to

the nearest nickel on cash transactions.

Here is what you need to know about the upcoming change:

• Only cash transactions are rounded: Electronic payments—including credit, debit, EBT, SNAP, gift cards, and co-op account charges—will continue to be processed down to the exact cent.

• How rounding works: When you pay with cash, your change will round to the nearest five cents ($0.05). Change ending in 1, 2, 6, or 7 will round down; totals ending in 3, 4, 8, or 9 will round up. If your cash total ends in a 0 or 5, no rounding occurs. The round up or down will never be more than 2 cents.

‌• Pennies are still accepted for payment: You can still pay with pennies. Our customer service staff will gladly accept loose or rolled pennies toward your total.

• Prices and sales tax remain unchanged: You will still see these exactly as they were before. Rounding only applies to the final change at checkout.

If you would rather bypass cash adjustments altogether and make an immediate local impact, you can choose to Round Up for Food For All at checkout. Rounding up your total, whether you pay with cash, card, or mobile pay, directly funds fresh, healthy food for community members experiencing food insecurity.
