At our co-op, we will proudly spotlight the significant contributions of Black producers, Black farmers, Black-led non-profits, and Black cooperatives who enrich our community and co-op history.

‌Weaver Street Market has partnered with Equal Exchange since we opened our Carrboro store in 1988. Equal Exchange has provided our owners and shoppers with high-quality Fair Trade avocados, bananas, nuts, coffee, tea, and chocolates—all grown and produced by farmer cooperatives across the world.

This relationship transcends a vendor/retailer relationship, as trade between co-ops takes place under a different set of standards guided by commonly held principles and values, such as giving farmers and workers a seat at the decision-making table through co-ownership.

Weaver Street Market values its Co-op to Co-op trade with partners like Equal Exchange and producer cooperatives like La Riojana not just for their quality products but also for the impact the partnerships have on community development and local infrastructure for these farmer communities.

‌Weaver Street owners, you are invited to attend our Board Business Meetings, which occur 8 times a year. The next Board Business Meeting is Wednesday, February 11, 6 pm to 8 pm.

Weaver Street’s Board Business Meetings are held online via Teams.
