Escape Room Training Popularity Keeps Spreading in Maryland! Thank you to the facilities that recently hosted the MD
Project Firstline Escape Room training. It was a pleasure working with the
dedicated staff at Williamsport Health and Rehabilitation Center. A special shout out goes to the Frederick County Health Department for partnering with us
once again to include the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program and for referring Northampton Manor
and Nursing Home to us.
Dulaney Eye Institute in Towson and Asbury
Solomons Community in Solomons displayed exceptional team spirit while
engaging in this infection control training. We are grateful for your interest
in this project. The enthusiasm displayed at each of these training sessions
has contributed to the success of MD Project Firstline and we appreciate

MDH Issues Press Releases About Confirmed Measles CasesThe Maryland Department of Health confirmed that six cases
of measles have been identified in residents of Central Maryland and two cases in residents of Southern Maryland. All Marylanders should review potential exposure
times, watch for symptoms, and confirm they are up to date on their measles,
mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccinations.
Measles is a highly contagious disease that is spread easily through the air
when an infectious person breathes, coughs, or sneezes. The virus can remain in
the air for up to two hours after the infected person leaves the area. The
disease is also spread by direct contact and by touching infected surfaces.
Anyone who visited the following locations during the listed dates and hours may
have been exposed:
- Carroll
Hospital Center Emergency Department Waiting Room (200 Memorial Ave,
Westminster, MD 21157) on July 13, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. ET and on July
21, 2026, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- J&R
Feeds LLC (28038 Thompsons Corner Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659) from
July 16 - July 21, 2026
- MedStar
Health Urgent Care in Charlotte Hall (37767 Market Drive, Ste 100,
Charlotte Hall, MD 20622) on July 20, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Room (25500 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown,
MD 20650) on July 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.

MDH Distributes Letter About CyclosporiasisThe Maryland Department of Health wants providers to be
aware of a recent and widespread increase in cyclosporiasis, a parasitic
infection that is characterized by prolonged watery diarrhea. People can become
infected by consuming food or water contaminated with the parasite. The illness
is not generally spread directly from person to person.
Over the last few months, reported cases have increased in
multiple states, including in Maryland. From January 1, 2026, through July 14,
2026, there have been 69 confirmed cases reported to MDH, including 65 cases
since May 1.
