Escape Room Trainings in Full GearMD Project Firstline
continues to provide the Escape Room training to a growing number of Maryland healthcare
facilities to strengthen infection prevention education. We extend our appreciation to the teams at
Montcare Potomac and Bethesda in Montgomery County, whose collaboration made
these sessions both educational and enjoyable. It was a privilege partnering
with the Director of Education at Western Maryland Hospital Center in
Hagerstown to support staff development initiatives and facilitate this
hands-on learning opportunity. At
Caroline Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Denton, staff from diverse
healthcare roles appreciated this interactive review of infection control
principles.
We were also pleased to
work with the dedicated staff at Holly Hill Healthcare in Towson, whose great
teamwork contributed to a successful training experience. Finally, we would like to thank the staff at
La Clinica Del Pueblo in Hyattsville, for such a warm welcome and eagerness to
participate in this infection control Escape Room training.

expand the reach of this innovative training and hope in the coming months to
engage even more healthcare organizations across Maryland. Maryland Department of Health Update on MeaslesThe Maryland Department of Health issued a clinician letter on August 24 to alert colleagues of an increase in measles cases in
Maryland, and the designation of certain areas within Maryland as currently
experiencing measles outbreaks. In 2026 to date, there have been 31 cases of
measles confirmed in Maryland residents, 27 of which have been identified since
July 15. Of these 27 recent cases, all have been unvaccinated;
the regions of residence are Southern Maryland (14); Central Maryland (8), and Upper Eastern Shore
(5). Refer to the letter for vaccination guidance, measles precautions,
and testing for suspect cases.

410-767-6700. Updates to Maryland Project Firstline WebsiteThe Maryland Project Firstline website was recently enhanced with a new
section on the Group Training page for Interactive Scenarios. The scenarios, provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), offer staff
opportunities to work through several “What’s Wrong with this Picture?”
situations, solve problems with a “Diarrhea Dilemma” and “Fidgeting Felix Gets
an IV,” as well as a training to select all the areas where germs live in a healthcare facility. Five of
the six interactive resources are also available in Spanish.
Check back with the website for other enhancements because we will
be adding translated resources and all six of the environmental services
micro-learns in Brazilian Portuguese and Haitian Creole, courtesy of the
Massachusetts Department of Health. Chesapeake Dental Conference on September 19-20Stop by the MD Project Firstline booth during the Chesapeake Dental Conference at the Princess Royale Hotel in Ocean City on September 19 and 20. We
will offer information about our training opportunities and educational
resources to support infection prevention in dental settings. Come say

attend the LifeSpan Annual Conference and Expo September 22-24, at the
