Temporary drought pricing approved

The Denver Board of Water Commissioners has approved the implementation of temporary drought pricing on outdoor water use to help respond to ongoing drought conditions, encourage conservation and protect our water supply.

Temporary drought pricing will apply starting with May water use (reflected on June bills) and will remain in effect through April 30, 2027, or until further action by the board.

How drought pricing works:

  • Tier 1, which covers essential indoor water use, is exempt from drought pricing.
  • Tier 2 water use will have a drought charge of $1.10 per 1,000 gallons added on top of your 2026 Tier 2 water rates.
  • Tier 3 water use will have a drought charge of $2.20 per 1,000 gallons added on top of your 2026 Tier 3 water rates.
