As Amigos prepares for a new strategic plan, we’re inviting members to share their perspectives through a series of quick, one-question surveys to better understand the interests of members and libraries across our region.

‌Schedule Announced for Practical Paths to the AI-Enhanced Library

Join us on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, for Practical Paths to the AI-Enhanced Library, an Amigos online conference that will include two keynote presentations and several concurrent sessions presented by various library leaders.

At the 11:15 am concurrent sessions, attendees can choose to join the Rapid Response to AI: Everything Countspanel discussion to learn how an instructional program is taking a kitchen sink approach to AI; or learn how Mizzou is working with generative AI models and related tools to analyze and extract useful descriptions, transcriptions, data tables, and more in More Than Pretty Pictures: Text and Data Extraction to Maximize Usefulness of Digitized Materials.

For the 1:00 pm sessions, the Fixed-Prompt Metadata Workflows: Practical Paths to the AI-Enhanced Library presenter will demonstrate how a structured fixed prompt can generate Connexion-ready MARC records across AI platforms; and Gene-AI-ology: Harnessing the power of artificial intelligence in family history research offers attendees fresh ideas for integrating AI into your genealogical toolbox.

‌Call for Panelists - The Hive: Unlocking the Power of APIs in Libraries

Amigos invites proposals for panelists for the next session in our quarterly educational series, The Hive, taking place on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 1–2 pm Central. Proposals can be submitted through the online form and must be received by January 31, 2026.

This 60-minute session will feature multiple speakers sharing their best tips, tricks, and practical insights on the topic of Unlocking the Power of APIs in Libraries. APIs, or Application Programming Interfaces, are web services designed to allow systems and computers to transfer, share, and process information.
