Fall is a great season for
connecting with members. Amigos staff have had the pleasure of attending
several conferences over the past few months, including the Texas Council of
Academic Libraries (TCAL), Missouri Library Association, and Arizona Library Association.
And we are looking forward to upcoming Missouri Public Library Directors (MPLD)
and Kansas Library Association meetings. As we spend time with staff from
member libraries, we hear about the value of our continuing education opportunities,
the importance of courier services and resource sharing, and your continued interest
in vendor offers. It’s been exciting to learn about greater involvement with NISO
through Amigos’ NISO consortium agreement. And we appreciate libraries’ interest
in our new Hyku digital repository service. We know there are also challenges in
the current environment – and we hope that more libraries will think with
Amigos about how we can navigate those challenges together. Conferences are always
a great opportunity to learn more about the many connection points we have across
member libraries.
As we prepare for a new
strategic plan, we are introducing a series of short, one-question surveys to
better understand the interests of members and libraries across our region. This month’s one-question
survey focuses on this idea of connection and asks, “How would you like to learn and connect
with other libraries through your membership with Amigos?” We would love to hear from you and
appreciate your engagement with our future work.
Applications Open for 2026 NISO Plus Scholarships
Amigos encourages staff from member libraries to apply for the 2026 NISO Plus Scholarship Award through November 24, 2025. The program is designed for emerging and mid-career professionals whose perspectives are underrepresented in scholarly communications and who are eager to learn, network, and help shape the future of the information community.
With the theme of “Joy in Our Libraries”, the recent 2025 Missouri Library Association (MLA) Annual Conference welcomed librarians from across the state of Missouri and beyond. This year’s annual awards ceremony continued to celebrate libraries, with several awards going to those at Amigos member libraries (St. Louis County Library, Missouri Southern State University, University of Missouri Libraries, Little Dixie Regional Libraries, and Missouri Historical Society Library & Research Center).
