CommScope Technical Family Webinar

Please join us April 9 for our CTF webinar on Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Sustainability in Network Infrastructure.

We’ll take a closer look at CommScope’s approach to EPDs, what they cover, and how they help designers, consultants, and end users align projects with sustainability goals, regulatory requirements, and lifecycle assessment frameworks. The discussion will also highlight current sustainability trends shaping modern builds, including ESG reporting, green building certifications, and carbon reduction strategies. This session will be delivered in Spanish, French and English. (Europe only)

Product Updates / Application

Here is a solution for an application that will support the transition between indoor and outdoor cables.

ANSI/TIA-568.2-D allows for up to 4 connections in a copper channel:

CommScope’s CCA (Ceiling Connector Assembly) works well for the transition between indoor and OSP cables:

Ensure that each end of any gel filled cable is blocked with sealant:

Terminate the indoor cable first – then lay down a bed of B sealant.

Clean all gel from the end of the OSP cable.

After the OSP cable and conductors are positioned, fill the area around the cable with the sealant and close the connector housing.

Ceiling Connector Assemblies are available in unshielded and shielded versions.

The color options are black or white.

760234921 | CCA-WH Unshielded Ceiling Connector Assembly (CCA) without cordage, White

760244061 | CCA-BK Unshielded Ceiling Connector Assembly (CCA) without cordage, Black

760250028 | ECO CCA-SHLD-5 Shielded Ceiling Connector Assembly (CCA) without cordage, Silver (5 ea/pkg)

If lightning protection is required, surge protectors may also be used as connection points in a channel:

When specifying/installing surge protectors, keep the following in mind:

  • The surge protector must allow for POE voltage if a POE device is being powered.
  • Models with 110 punch-downs are preferred.
  • Check to make sure the surge protector cable entrance can accommodate the size of the OSP cable.
  • Make sure to install a ground on each protector.
  • Ensure that the ends of gel filled cables are blocked with sealant.
