Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce this year’s Texas State University faculty members who are being honored with the title of “University Distinguished Professor.” This award honors individuals whose performance in teaching, research, and service has been exemplary and recognized at the state, national, and international levels. The 2025 University Distinguished Professors are Dr. Susan Morey, Department of Mathematics and Dr. Oleg Komogortsev, Department of Computer Science.

Dr. Morey and Dr. Komogortsev will retain the title of “University Distinguished Professor” for the duration of their service at Texas State. They will also receive a one-time $5,000 award, a commemorative medallion, and recognition during the annual Faculty Awards Night planned for Thursday, September 18, 2025. I will also be submitting Dr. Morey and Dr. Komogortsev’s portfolios for consideration of the Regents’ Professor Award, decided by the Texas State University System (TSUS) Board of Regents.

Chosen from members of an exceptional faculty, I commend Dr. Morey and Dr. Komogortsev for their excellence as faculty members and for their contributions to Texas State.
