At the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, native plants play an important role in creating habitats that support wildlife and inspire conservation at home. Planting native is a simple way to make a big impact right in your own backyard.
Plant scientists at our Lindner Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife (CREW) are developing long term preservation protocols for exceptional species (ones that cannot be conventionally seed banked). The Frozen Garden in CREW's plant lab contains plant material that could be key to the survival of rare oaks, pawpaws, and other endangered tree species.
Join us for the last lecture in the Barrows Conservation Lecture Series on April 29. Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant, host of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, will close out the series with lessons learned in the field tracking and researching black and grizzly bears in the Western U.S. and lions in East Africa. Virtual tickets are only $8!
Adding native plants to your outdoor space, be it a garden or a porch pot, is a great way to support local biodiversity. Bring life to your landscape this spring!
