A Message from Vice President Diaz

Dear Student Affairs Family,

Welcome back, and happy spring semester. I hope you had time over the break to rest and reconnect with the people and things that matter most to you.

It has been wonderful to welcome our students back to campus and to see our spaces filled with their energy once again. The first week of the semester is always busy, and I am especially grateful for the work many of you are doing to support students as they get oriented, including staffing Cougar Question Mart to help students navigate the campus.

As we begin the semester, there is much to look forward to across Student Affairs. Alongside the many programs, initiatives, and events you are already planning and carrying out, I am looking forward to Phase I of our Divisional Strategic implementation. This phase will focus on aligning our work around shared priorities and strengthening how we assess and understand our impact, with guidance and support provided throughout.

This semester will also bring opportunities to connect in meaningful ways, connections that matter, especially as the work ahead requires focus and sustained effort. As I shared in a previous communication, we are creating additional opportunities for dialogue and engagement across the division. Along with my visits to each unit, we will host informal meet-and-greets with members of the Senior Leadership Team to offer more accessible opportunities for conversation and questions.

Together, we will continue to transform the lives of our students, one student at a time. Thank you for all that you do in support of our students and one another. I look forward to the work ahead and to a productive and successful spring semester.

In community,

Viridiana Diaz, Ed.D.
