Dear Student Affairs,

I want to share a brief update as we continue our work together.

As you may recall, the 2025-2030 Student Affairs Strategic Plan provides a shared framework for how we align our work, strengthen our division, and advance student success over the coming years. With the plan in place, we recently met with managers to prepare them to begin Phase I of implementation.

As part of this phase, I’m pleased to share that Daniel Gonzalez, Director of Student Inclusion & Engagement, will support this important work through an additional assignment. Many of you know Dan through his leadership of our Student Life Centers, where he has helped strengthen how those areas think about learning outcomes, evidence, and impact. He will work closely with my office and with managers, who will lead this work within their respective areas.

Phase I focuses on alignment and clarity — making visible the important work already happening across the division and strengthening how we describe our impact using a shared framework. This phase is intentionally designed to build on existing efforts.

For reference, here are links to our Strategic Plan and website:

Over the coming days, managers will continue engaging their teams to identify two strategic plan objectives their area or department will focus on during Phase I. Managers will also share information about upcoming workshops that will support this work, including one scheduled for next week.

Thank you for the work you do every day to support our students and our division. We look forward to continuing this work together with clarity and shared purpose.

Sincerely,

Viridiana Diaz, Ed.D.
