Greetings Student Affairs Colleagues,
The results are in! Over 70 members of the division voted for this year’s Fall Office Decorating Contest theme, and we’re excited to announce the winner:
Storybook Magic – Tales Come to Life!
Thank you to everyone who voted!
Choose a favorite story, book, fairy tale, or literary character and bring it to life in your space. From enchanted kingdoms and childhood favorites to classic tales, imaginative worlds, and everything in between, get creative and make your office part of our storybook experience!
Offices interested in participating in this year's Student Affairs Fall Office Decorating Contest should sign up by October 9, 2026, and indicate their selection. Choices will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure a variety of stories are represented.
Judging will take place on October 29, 2026, with offices evaluated on their overall presentation, including creativity, office décor, costumes, and skit/performance. This year, in addition to our Overall Winner, we’ll also present second- and third-place awards.
Following the judging, join us from 1–2 p.m. at The Dome (in front of the bookstore) for a fall social with treats and the announcement of our contest winners.
We also encourage you to continue the fun by participating in HR’s Spirit of Halloween Employee Contest on Friday, October 30. As part of your overall decorating, your office door can also be entered in HR’s Door Decorating Contest, with additional opportunities to participate in the Enchanted Experience Award and Virtual Costume Contest. Learn more and register for HR's contest by October 21 at 5 p.m.
As you plan your decorations, costumes, and performances, please help keep the experience fun and inclusive by avoiding themes or portrayals that may be culturally or religiously insensitive, reinforce stereotypes, or trivialize human suffering.
For questions, please contact the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs at studentaffairs@csusm.edu.
We can’t wait to see your favorite stories come to life. Happy decorating, and may your office live happily ever after!
