Why apply: Achievement Award winners earn recognition that can include local media coverage, features in County News or other NACo publications and a spotlight at the 2025 Annual Conference. But most importantly, award winners support the exchange of great ideas among counties.

National County Government Month starts April 1
National County Government Month, held each April, is an annual celebration of county government. By participating, your county can champion the county workforce, boost civic engagement and raise public awareness about the county role.
Visit the toolkit: The participation toolkit is full of ideas to shape your activation for National County Government Month, from press releases, to sample social media posts and graphics, to examples of some of the great things counties have done in past years.
