A Smarter Way to Measure FAO in Cells

Fatty acid oxidation (FAO) plays a critical role in cellular energy metabolism, especially during periods of fasting, exercise or metabolic stress, and is tightly linked to mitochondrial health and function. Understanding and measuring FAO is essential for studying metabolic diseases, obesity, diabetes and cancer.

Existing methods for FAO measurement are either indirect, low throughput, or require specialized equipment. The FAO-Glo™ Fatty Acid Oxidation Assay overcomes these limitations by enabling direct detection of FAO in a high-throughput-compatible, plate-based format requiring only a conventional luminometer.

Key Features

  • Direct and reliable measurement of FAO in living cells
  • Simple, plate-based format compatible with HTS
  • No radioactivity or specialized instrumentation required

The FAO-Glo™ Assay detected both inhibition and stimulation of FAO. HEK293 cells were treated with 20µM etomoxir (inhibitor, above). HepG2 cells were treated with 10µM resveratrol (activator, below).

Streamlined dsRNA Detection for Quality Assurance

Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) is a critical impurity in in vitro- transcribed mRNA therapeutics and can trigger unwanted immune responses. Reliable dsRNA detection is essential to ensure RNA quality and product safety.

The TLR3 Bioassay enables sensitive, mechanism-based detection of immunostimulatory dsRNA in a convenient thaw-and-use format.

  • Mechanism-of-action detection via human TLR3 activation
  • Ready-to-use cells – No cell culture required
  • Responsive to different dsRNA lengths, sequences, and delivery methods
  • Luminescent readout for robust, quantitative results
  • Ideal for QC, process optimization, and immunogenicity risk assessment
